Equity and inclusion are at the heart of Heifer’s mission to end hunger and poverty while caring for the Earth. We are committed to creating equal opportunities for all, especially women, youth, and marginalized communities by promoting inclusive economic growth, social justice, and community-led development.

That’s why our programs are designed to elevate the voices and leadership of underrepresented groups across agriculture and food systems. We promote agency, entrepreneurship, and shared decision-making from households to cooperatives and enterprises. 

We also track key indicators of participation and empowerment, such as women’s roles in household decisions and leadership positions, to measure our progress and ensure accountability. By investing in people and removing barriers to opportunity, we help communities build resilience, unlock potential, and drive sustainable change together.
