Project Period: 2025-2028
JV Nepal is a three-year dairy development project (2025-2028) implemented by Heifer in partnership with the Nepal Agricultural Research Council (NARC), government institutions, dairy cooperatives, and private sector actors. The project addresses key challenges faced by Nepal’s smallholder dairy farmers; low milk productivity, limited incomes, and increasing climate-related risks while ensuring the inclusion of women, youth, and marginalized groups.
Building on the Model Dairy Village approach, JV Nepal strengthens the dairy sector by improving animal productivity and milk quality, establishing a Jersey nucleus herd to support national breed improvement, and developing efficient, inclusive dairy value chains. Implemented in Kaski, Tanahu, and Nawalparasi districts of Gandaki Province, the project will directly benefit 6,100 people and indirectly reach nearly 49,000, contributing to resilient livelihoods, stronger markets, and a more sustainable dairy sector in Nepal.
