Background
Heifer Project Nepal has been implementing “Integrated Approach to Enhance Milk Quality, Dairy Animal Productivity, and Milk Consumption by vulnerable Household Member in Rural Nepal” project, with one of the major objectives to promote the consumption of Animal Source Food (ASF), especially milk among vulnerable community. To achieve the objective the project, aim to enhance nutrition education among mothers, fathers, and adolescent girls through nutrition education and participatory learning activities. Therefore, the trainee (nutrition) will track/identify the households included in baseline survey from the intervention group, form mothers’, fathers’ and adolescent girls’ group, and support to organize and facilitate nutrition educational activities (group meetings) in mothers’, fathers’ and adolescent girls’ group.
Key Responsibilities
The trainee (nutrition) is expected to carry out following activities:
- Assist project team to identify households included in the baseline survey from intervention group
- Support to form mothers’, fathers’ and adolescent girls’ groups in the intervention group
- Provide necessary technical backstopping to local resource persons for nutrition education related activities
- Support local resource persons to organize and facilitate the nutrition educational activities (group meeting)
- Ensure participatory learning and action has been implemented in group meeting and the available IEC materials has been used effectively
- Support in Nutrition club formation and mobilize adolescent girls for nutrition awareness in the community
- Identify locations to establish model kitchens and support in model kitchen establishment
- Develop educational materials for school milk program and develop cost effective menu including animal source foods especially milk and milk products for school children
- Support in collection and compilation of project related data from field
- Develop and contextualize IEC materials for nutrition club and model kitchens
- Collaborate with ward office, health facilities, female community health volunteers (FCHV) and other relevant stakeholders
- Compile and prepare case stories/success stories related to project intervention
- Perform other job-related duties as required/assigned
Duration
The total duration of the assignment is 60 working days, starting from second week of September 2024.
Qualification Required
- Final year student of bachelor’s degree in nutrition and dietetics
- Strong communication and facilitation skills
- Self-motivated and learning attitude
- Sound computer skills (MS Office package)
- willingness to travel and spend considerable time in field
Benefits
- Daily wages: NPR 1000/day
- Transportation: Kathmandu to Project area (Two way)
- Communication: NPR 500/month
